Education Opportunities

We believe that education can empower individuals to improve their overall health. We are proud to provide a 7 Week rotation of classes that focus on stroke education, prevention, and an understanding of the life changes that a stroke patient and their friends and family members must face. Community resource information is also provided.

  • “Brainstorm” is a 7-week class on Stroke Education that meets each Thursday at 2:00pm in the Coastal Rehabilitation dining room. Participants may join the class at any session during the 7-week cycle. Each week a new topic is covered. Topics include:
    • Causes of Stroke
    • Prevention, Signs & Symptoms of Stroke
    • Dealing with Emotional Changes from Stroke
    • Daily Activities & Communication (OT/SLP)
    • Exercise & Strengthening (PT/Exercise Specialist)
    • Diet & Leisure Time (Dietician/Recreational Therapist)
    • Caregiver Support & Resources (Social Work)
